(During lunch, Rick tells George about his disastrous weekend.)

G: Hi, Rick. How was your weekend?

R: My weekend? It was terrible!

G: Really? What happened?

R: Do you really want to know?

G: Of course.

R: Well, on Saturday, my mom and dad went away for the day.

G: Yeah?

------------------------------------------------------------
R's mother: There's a pizza in the refrigerator.

R: Uh-huh.

R's father: And here's the number at Aunt Helen's.

R: Thanks, Dad.

R' mother: Cook the pizza for fifteen minutes.

R's father: See you at eleven tonight.

R's mother: And don't burn it.

R: OK. All right. See you tonight. Bye.
------------------------------------------------------------

G: So, what happened?

R: Well. They left at one o'clock, and I was hungry.

G: Uh-huh.

R: So I put a pizza in the oven.

G: Yeah?

R: And then I called Julia on the phone. We talked for about an hour.

G: Uh-oh.

R: Uh-oh is right ...

G: So what did you do?

R: I ran back upstairs, and I called the fire department.

------------------------------------------------------------
R: Yes, 2525 Perry Avenue. Fire! Hurry!
------------------------------------------------------------

G: Did a fire truck come?

R: Yes, it did. And the fireman put the fire out.

G: Oh. Well, that's good.

R: No, that's bad. There was water all over the kitchen ...

G: Did you clean it up?

R: Yeah, I cleaned it up. It took me two hour — from two to four o'clock.

G: So, then what did you do?

R: Do you really want to know?

G: Of course.

R: Well, I was really hungry.

G: Uh-huh.

R: So I went to the store to get a pizza.

G: Yeah?

R: And I drove there in my dad's new car.

G: Oh no!

R: Oh, yes. I got back, and guess what! I drove the car into the garage door ...

G: Oh! Was your father angry?

R: Well, my parents came home late that night, but the next day ...

G: And what about your mother?

R: She thanked me.

G: She thanked you?

R: Yeah! She said, “The kitchen ... it's so clean!”

G: Well, anyway, that's good. So what did you do on Sunday?

R: I found a part-time job ... at the pizza shop.

G: The pizza shop? You?

R: Yeah! Garage doors are expensive, George. And I need the money.

G: Well, cheer up, Rick. I'll buy you an ice cream.

R: Gee, thanks, George ... So, George, how was your weekend?

G: Oh, my weekend was fantastic! First, ...
